Formula 3 is to get a winter series in the Middle East, as predicted by AUTOSPORT.
The FIA Formula 3 Middle East Cup, announced at Thursday's World Motor Sport Council, will take place in January 2015 at the Bahrain Grand Prix circuit.
Although no further details are in the WMSC statement, sources have suggested that this could take the form of one or two race meetings on the Sakhir track, with a testing programme around them.
The WMSC has also confirmed that the life of the current chassis, which was initially from 2012-15, will be extended by a further two seasons until the end of 2017.
It also stated that 'changes to the FIA F3 technical regulations have been made to reduce running and development costs'.
