Hakkinen: 'No room for error'
Mika Hakkinen warned there was now no margin for error in the last three races if he wants to become world champion again
Speaking on the eve of the US Grand Prix the McLaren-Mercedes ace said he was not surprised to be beaten by Michael Schumacher at Monza --because McLaren got it wrong.
The German won for the first time in six races to score a desperately needed victory in front of the home fans at Monza.
"We have to get it right from now on," said Hakkinen.
"In Monza we just weren't quick enough. You cant get it right every time.
"Our car was not as good as it should have been at Monza and that's why Ferrari was quicker."
Schumacher says superiority see-saws between him and Hakkinen because the two teams are so equally matched.
"In other Grands Prix we didn't do it, but in Monza we got it together and they didn't," Schumacher says.
"To me, our cars are pretty close and the drivers are pretty close, so the difference gets down to making the most of what you have."
