Sam MacLeod not tempted to expand 2014 British Formula 3 programme

Sam MacLeod

Sam MacLeod says he will not be tempted into a full-time assault on the British Formula 3 Championship, despite a strong weekend at Snetterton propelling him up the points ladder.

MacLeod, who is committed to the full German championship for this season, has been a winner on both his British F3 cameos.

His pair of Snetterton victories left him second in the standings, seven points behind team-mate Martin Cao.

But despite Fortec Motorsport boss Richard Dutton hoping MacLeod will expand his British schedule, the 19-year-old told AUTOSPORT he planned to keep his focus on Germany.

"It has crossed my mind, and it's nice to win races, but Britain is not my primary focus," said MacLeod.

"It is best to be selective: quality not quantity.

"The only other British round I am likely to do is Spa. That's the one with the most value for me."

MacLeod lies fourth in the German series, where he races for van Amersfoort.

Two of the three British Championship rounds that follow Spa clash with his German dates.
