Hamilton, Bodine land 2001 seats
NASCAR journeymen Bobby Hamilton and Brett Bodine have both secured Winston Cup seats for the 2001 season
Hamilton, who will be released from the Morgan-McClure squad at the end of the season will drive for Andy Petree Racing as team mate to Joe Nemecheck. The Nashville native replaces Kenny Wallace in the team's Square D-backed Chevrolet Monte Carlo.
"I'm using this opportunity as a fresh start to continue my racing career," said the 43-year-old Hamilton, who scored one win with Morgan-McClure in 1998, but currently lies 30th in the Winston Cup standings. "I know I have the skills to return to victory lane - I've proven that in the past. But in Winston Cup, being a good driver isn't enough and you need the total package to be competitive."
Bodine will replace three-time Winston Cup champion Darrell Waltrip at Haas-Carter Motorsports. Bodine, who is currently fourth in the NASCAR Busch Series standings, has yet to win a Winston Cup race during a sporadic career in NASCAR's premier series. Waltrip, meanwhile, is retiring from driving and will concentrate on his role as TV commentator with Fox Sports.
