The Porsche 908/2 used as the camera car for Steve McQueen movie Le Mans will star in a special exhibition of the German manufacturer's cars at this month's 24 Hours.
The 908/2, which also finished second in the 1970 Sebring 12 Hours with McQueen and Peter Revson driving, will be on public display in the Le Mans 'Village' adjacent to the paddock along with eight other Porsches that raced in the French enduro.
The collection will be on view from Wednesday of Le Mans week (June 11) and move to the start-finish straight for pitwalk day on Friday.
The cars will then undertake a lap of the track ahead of the start of the 24 Hours on Saturday, before returning to the Village for the remainder of the event.
The 908/2, now owned by Austrian August Deutsch, was fitted with cameras during the 1970 24 Hours to provide footage for Le Mans, which was released in 1971.
The car, driven by Jonathan Williams and Herbert Linge, was not part of the official classification but completed enough laps to put it inside the top 10.
The display will include four Le Mans-winning Porsches: the 1976 936, the 1987 962C, the 1994 Dauer 962LM and the 911 GT1-98 that gave the marque its most recent outright Le Mans victory in 1998.
There will also be a Porsche 917LH. This car is now in Martini colours, but raced at Le Mans in 1971 in Gulf Oil blue-and-orange in the hands of Dererk Bell and Jo Siffert.
Fabrice Bourrigaud, spirit of Le Mans director at race organiser the Automobile Club de l'Ouest, said: "Our display to celebrate the 90th anniversary of Le Mans last year was a big success, so we have decided to do something similar every year.
"This time, not surprisingly, we have chosen to celebrate the rich history of Porsche at the 24 Hours.
"The idea is to only have cars that raced at Le Mans and also to have cars with a specific history."
