The Romanian round of the European Rally Championship has been canned after Eurosport was unable to find agreement with the Sibiu Rally Romania organiser.
The event, postponed from its February date due to heavy snowfall, had been expected to run in October, but will not now count as a round of the ERC. The European series drops to 11 qualifying events for this season.
ERC co-ordinator Jean-Bapitste Ley said the Romanian event simply was not good enough to qualify for the series.
He said: "Despite hard work behind the scenes with the Romanian authorities, it was impossible for the Sibiu Rally Romania promoter to provide the standards of an ERC round on this new date in October."
Eastern European rally fans remain well catered for by the ERC, however, with two of the next three rounds running in Estonia and Czech Republic. The series resumes with the Ypres Rally in Belgium next month.
