Dave Price replaced as DeltaWing team boss in the USC

Stalwart sportscar boss Dave Price has been replaced as team manager at the DeltaWing United SportsCar Championship squad

Price, who ran the DeltaWing Racing Cars squad from its establishment at the beginning of last year, has been replaced by former Chip Ganssai Racing sportscar team manager Tim Keene.

The change results from DeltaWing boss Don Panoz's requirement to have his team manager based at the squad's workshops in Braselton, near the Road Atlanta track.

European-based Price, who worked on the Panoz GT1 and LMP prototypes in the late 1990s and early 2000s, told AUTOSPORT: "Don wanted someone based at Braselton full-time and I wasn't able to commit to that.

"We'd been talking about this since the end of last year, so I was really working on a race-by-race basis this season.

"I would have liked to stay to the end of the year, but there are no hard feelings."

Keene joins the DeltaWing set-up following his release from Ganassi after January's Daytona 24 Hours USC round.

He ran its sportscar squad, which won five Grand-Am titles and the Daytona 24 Hours on five occasions, from its inception ahead of the 2005 season.

Keene said: "I was pleasantly surprised to get the call from Don, because he's an icon in American sportscar racing.

"After meeting with him and checking things out, I was sure I was doing the right thing."

Price said that he believes the DeltaWing DWC13 coupe, which is shared by Andy Meyrick and Katherine Legge, will be competitive over the final four races on its 2014 schedule at Watkins Glen, Mosport, Road America and Road Atlanta.

"The gearbox modifications that I have put in place, which are due to come in time for Watkins Glen next month, should solve the reliability issues," he said.

"I really believe the car can be competitive and challenge for podiums."
