Former Audi factory driver Pierre Kaffer will return to the Risi Competizione Ferrari squad for this weekend's Laguna Seca round of the United SportsCar Championship.
The German, who finished second in GT2 together with Jaime Melo in the American Le Mans Series with Risi in 2009 (pictured), will share the squad's solo GT Le Mans class Ferrari 458 Italia with Giancarlo Fisichella on a one-off basis.
It will be his first race with Risi since 2010 when he contested a handful of events with the team, which included a second consecutive GT2 class victory in the Sebring 12 Hours.
Kaffer takes the place of American Dane Cameron, who raced for Risi at Long Beach but is unavailable this weekend because he is driving for the Turner Motorsports BMW GT Daytona team at Laguna.
Matteo Malucelli, who started the season alongside Fisichella, will not return to Risi in the wake of the accident in the Sebring 12 Hours, the team has finally confirmed.
The Italian received a one-race ban covering last month's Long Beach round for "behaviour deemed to represent an unjustifiable risk or reckless endangerment".
Risi has yet to make a decision on a partner for Fisichella over the remaining six GTLM USC rounds after Laguna.
