Townsend Bell will return to the Indianapolis 500 this year in a third car fielded by KV Racing Technology.
The 38-year-old will drive the #6 entry alongside team regulars Sebastien Bourdais and Sebastian Saavedra in what will be his eighth start at Indianapolis.
KV claimed the victory at Indy with Tony Kanaan last year, and Bell said that he was excited by the prospect of suiting up for the defending event winner.
"In 2001, [team co-owner] Jimmy [Vasser] was my team-mate in my first Champ Car event, and in 2009 I had my best finish at Indy racing with KVRT, so coming back to the defending Indy 500 champions, is special," he said.
Bell has earned three top 10 finishes at Indy, with a best starting spot of fourth in 2011.
