IndyCar introduces stewards panel to revamp penalty procedure

IndyCar race director Beaux Barfield no longer has sole jurisdiction over penalty decisions, with the series having elected to switch to a three-steward panel.
Under the new system, any of the three nominated stewards have the power to call for a replay or car data.
After that there will be a vote as to whether any action needs to be taken, and over the severity of the penalty if applicable.
Barfield, Brian Barnhart and Johnny Unser make up the panel for this weekend's season-opener in St Petersburg.
However, IndyCar president of competition and operations Derrick Walker has proposed a rotation of stewards for 2015.
