Ogier to enter Fafe Rally Sprint ahead of Portugal WRC round
Sebastien Ogier will enter the Fafe Rally Sprint ahead of the next round of the World Rally Championship in Portugal
The Frenchman, currently leading the championship after his win in Mexico, was unable to tackle the now traditional Rally of Portugal warm-up event due to illness last year.
More than 100,000 fans are expected for the exhibition event on Saturday.
"I'm very excited to be taking part in the Fafe Rally Sprint for the first time," said Ogier.
"I have heard a lot from other the drivers and our Portuguese mechanics about the famous jumps.
"I've also seen pictures with the thousands of fans from 2013. It seems like an incredible atmosphere and I love the dual nature of it. Of course we will give it our best shot in front of so many fans."
Ogier will take on rivals from all the other WRC manufacturers, including Citroen's Kris Meeke and Mads Ostberg, M-Sport's Elfyn Evans and Hyundai driver Thierry Neuville.
The crews will face two qualifying rounds, with the fastest going through to a winner-takes-all finale.
As well as the fastest time, the event features the unofficial honour regarding that famous jump at Fafe. Armin Schwarz holds the unofficial record after landing a 73.5-metre leap in a Skoda Octavia WRC in 2000.
