Upgraded WTCC Chevrolet Cruze completes shakedown

RML has completed the first shakedown of its upgraded 2014 World Touring Car Championship Chevrolet Cruze.

The team, which agreed to design and produce six cars to the series' new TC1 regulations, trialled two Cruzes to provide RML with "much needed mileage and data".

"The timeline for this project has been incredibly tight and I was immensely proud of everyone involved when car 001 rolled out this morning," RML director of motorsport Ron Hartvelt said.

"That this shakedown was successfully completed to the schedule we predicted back in October is a testament to the talent and dedication of the whole organisation.

"Of course we would have much preferred a proper test and development programme before handing the cars over, but we are confident that the customer teams will do a good job."

The cars will now be distributed to customer teams Campos and ROAL Motorsport, who will conduct the first proper test at Valencia later this week.

Hugo Valente and Tom Chilton, the first two men to place orders for the 2014-spec cars, will drive for the respective squads.
