Sarah Fisher hires Alex Tagliani for second Indinanapolis 500 entry

Alex Tagliani will drive a second Sarah Fisher Hartman Racing entry at the Indianapolis 500, with the potential for additional IndyCar rounds to be added to the Canadian's programme later

Tagliani has been out of a full-time IndyCar seat since stepping down from his Bryan Herta Autosport drive midway through last season.

He was picked up by Ganassi to sub for the injured Dario Franchitti at the end of the year, but was overlooked in favour of Tony Kanaan to replace the Scot on a permanent basis.

SFHR co-owner Sarah Fisher said that she hoped to be able to add additional races to Tagliani's schedule as the team continues to work towards its ambition of running two cars full-time.

"It has always been our goal at SFHR to hire talent for credentials, and I am excited to have that opportunity again to include Tag in our Indianapolis 500 line-up, alongside Josef [Newgarden]," Fisher said.

"We are looking forward to building on to this second entry even further during the second half of the season."

Tagliani, whose five starts at Indy have produced a best result of 10th in 2010, said that he hopes his experience will prove beneficial to SFHR.

"I couldn't ask for a better opportunity with SFHR, and I will do my best to contribute to the success of the team," he said.

"I need to really thank Sarah and Wink [Hartman] for this chance to go back to Indianapolis to win this race.

"This has the potential to develop into a longer association because I really love what this team is about."
