Felix Rosenqvist returns to Formula 3 European Championship

Formula 3 European Championship runner-up Felix Rosenqvist is to return to the series in 2014 with Mucke Motorsport

As predicted by AUTOSPORT, the 22-year-old Swede will link up with the Berlin-based Mucke squad for a fourth successive season.

Mercedes-supported Rosenqvist's return is the big news on the entry list, which was released by the FIA on Friday morning.

"I'm glad to be getting another year with the guys at Mucke; we have some new challenges to look forward to this season," he said.

"Having said that, and while I genuinely believe the FIA Formula 3 European Championship to be one of the best junior single-seater series in the world, it's no secret that I've been doing F3 for quite a long time and that I've been working on alternative plans over the winter.

"At the end of the day, it just wasn't possible to progress into GP2 or World Series by Renault, so I can't see a better option than staying on in the F3 environment and trying to win the title I missed out on last year."

The other names on the 30-car entry list not previously reported by AUTOSPORT are Sandro Zeller and Jules Szymkowiak.

Swiss Zeller returns for a third season at this level with the family Jo Zeller Racing team, which has entered its second Mercedes-powered Dallara for a driver yet to be nominated.

Dutchman Szymkowiak joins compatriot Max Verstappen and American Gustavo Menezes in the Van Amersfoort Racing team. A graduate of the Formula BMW Talent Cup, the 18-year-old will be making his public race debut in European F3.

Team West-Tec has yet to assign a driver to its second car, alongside Puerto Rican Felix Serralles.

While West-Tec and Signature have joined the series for 2014, German minnows URD Rennsport and Ma-Con are not on the entry list.

With the German F3 Cup reverting to the older-spec engines for 2014, both teams will be able to use their 2012-13 European F3 equipment in this series.

It is understood that Ma-Con had dialogue with Renault about being the second team to commit to engines from the French manufacturer, which returns to F3 this year.

Both Ma-Con and URD are believed to be eyeing a return to European F3 in 2015.
