Lotus F1 team junior Oscar Tunjo joins Renault line-up
Lotus Formula 1 junior team driver Oscar Tunjo has become the first to commit to Renault's new Formula 3 European Championship programme
The 18-year-old Colombian will drive a Dallara F314 run by the Signature team and powered by the brand-new ORECA-built, Renault-badged engine.
Tunjo is a product of the Renault junior ranks, and has spent three seasons in the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup, finishing sixth in the 2013 standings.
Before that, he was runner-up in the Formula BMW Pacific series in 2010 at the age of 14.
Signature, one of the most successful F3 teams of the century, is returning to the category after a two-year sabbatical but has yet to run the new Renault engine on track.
Renault is understood to still be seeking a second team to run its powerplant, and is talking to some existing F3 operations that are yet to announce their engine supplier for 2014.
