Alex Brundle to return to OAK for select USC outings

Alex Brundle will return to the French OAK Racing team for selected races in the United SportsCar Championship in the US this year

Brundle, who raced for the rival Muscle Milk/Pickett Racing squad in the USC-opening Daytona 24 Hours, will drive for OAK in the Sebring, Watkins Glen and Road Atlanta enduros that make up the North American Endurance Cup along with Daytona.

The 23-year-old is also scheduled to drive OAK's solo Morgan-Nissan LMP2 in the Laguna Seca round on May 4.

Brundle said: "This is a good programme and I think we will be rapid in the USC.

"We know the Morgan is good over the bumps, so there's no other P2 I'd want to go to Sebring in."

OAK team boss Jacques Nicolet welcomed Brundle back to a team with which he first raced at the end of 2012.

"Despite his relative youth, he has accumulated considerable experience in endurance [racing]," said Nicolet.

"Not only is he bloody quick, he is an excellent test driver."

OAK has so far confirmed that Gustavo Yacaman - who shared the Morgan at Daytona with Olivier Pla, Oliver Webb and Roman Rusinov - will contest the full USC series.

Pla is understood to be the Colombian's regular team-mate in the USC, but Brundle will step in at Laguna because the California race clashes with the Spa round of the World Endurance Championship, which Pla is also set to contest with OAK.

Brundle said that he hoped there would be other opportunities with OAK over the course of 2014 and that "there could be other stuff as well".
