Alexandre Premat to drive factory Volvo in V8 Supercar endurnaces
Alexandre Premat will contest three V8 Supercar endurances races this season as part of the new factory Volvo programme
The ex-Audi DTM and sportscar driver split from Garry Rogers Motorsport in January "to explore other options" after two years with the team, with Robert Dahlgren replacing him alongside Scott McLaughlin in its first year running two new S60s.
However, after GRM - which will run under the Volvo Polestar Racing banner this season - confirmed that the Frenchman's previous partner Greg Ritter would be part of its enduro line-up, Premat has since landed a seat for the Sandown, Bathurst and Gold Coast races.
"When Alex decided to leave at the end of 2013 to pursue other opportunities we remained in constant contact," said team boss Garry Rogers, who is yet to confirm who Premat will be paired with.
"Alex had been a solid contributor to our team for the last two years and had become part of our family, sharing a great relationship with all at GRM and our sponsors.
"I spoke to Alex in relation to joining us for the endurance races and fortunately I have been able to lock down the dates of Sandown, Bathurst and the Gold Coast with him.
"While the Volvo S60 will be new to him as it will be to the team, which has competed with Holden products since its inception, with his relationship and the information that we have been able to gather with limited testing with our new Volvos I am sure we will all be able to produce a worthwhile result."
