Hyundai targets finishing Rally Sweden after retirements on the Monte

Both the Korean cars were eliminated on the opening day of the WRC's 2014 curtain-raiser in the French Alps last month, but both factory cars were in the top seven times during Wednesday's pre-Rally Sweden shakedown.

The team's number one driver Thierry Neuville wants to erase the memory of his first-stage crash on the Monte with a solid finish in the snow this week.

"The car felt good," he said. "I will drive this rally at my own rhythm, at a speed I feel comfortable.

"I can forget about Monte now; always when you go off, you can say: 'If I was there, I could be third or fourth...' but you can only be angry with yourself.

"These things happen in this sport, but we move on."

Neuville added that, despite the early exit for him and his Monte team-mate Dani Sordo (who was sidelined with an electrical problem), the team had learned plenty from round one.

"They took a lot of experience from Monte Carlo," he said.

"The communication in the team is better, in the car, the position of everything in there is better now - for Monte stuff was just put in there.

"It's good, already we are making good progress and this is why I joined this team.

"Now though, I want to get to the finish and I want more experience."

Neuville's team-mate for Sweden is Juho Hanninen, the team's longest-standing driver.
