Pizzonia takes Snetterton pole
Antonio Pizzonia did exactly what was required of him in qualifying in his efforts to land the British Formula 3 Championship at Snetterton this weekend, but his nearest challenger Tomas Scheckter made sure he'll have to fight hard for the title
Pizzonia shook off his post-Formula 1 testing 'blues' and put his Manor Motorsport Dallara-Mugen Honda on pole by a scant 0.087s, but Scheckter lined-up alongside him on the front row in his Stewart Racing-run example. To be sure of taking the championship in Norfolk, the Brazilian has to win, with Scheckter finishing third or lower.
Andrew Kirkaldy lined up a creditable third, with Gianmaria Bruni and Ben Collins completing the top five. Takuma Sato, form man in recent races, could only qualify sixth, just edging Nicolas Kiesa.
