Ryan Briscoe added to Corvette GT line-up for Daytona and Sebring

Ryan Briscoe

Ryan Briscoe has been drafted into Chevrolet's Corvette Racing line-up for the United SportsCar enduros at Daytona and Sebring next year.

The former Porsche factory driver, who is returning full-time to IndyCar in 2014 with a Chevy-powered Chip Ganassi entry, has joined the Corvette GT Le Mans attack together with Chevrolet-contracted Robin Liddell, a frontrunner in Grand-Am's GT class with the Stevensons Motorsport squad since 2008.

Briscoe and Liddell have been brought in to drive the new Corvette C7.Rs at next month's Daytona 24 Hours and the Sebring 12 Hours in March because the team's regular endurance drivers, Richard Westbrook and Jordan Taylor, are both contesting the full USC in the Prototype class with the Spirit of Daytona and Wayne Taylor Racing squads respectively.

Westbrook and Taylor will return to the Corvette Racing line-up for the Le Mans 24 Hours in June.

Briscoe will drive with 2013 American Le Mans Series GT class champions Jan Magnussen and Antonio Garcia, while Briscoe will share with Oliver Gavin and Tommy Milner.

Chevrolet has confirmed that it is carrying over its ALMS pairings of the past two seasons to the USC.

Chevrolet motorsport boss Mark Kent said: "We welcome championship talents Ryan Briscoe and Robin Liddell to the Corvette Racing programme for the opening two races of an exciting new chapter in sportscar racing.

"We feel this roster will be extremely competitive."
