Petter Solberg has signed Alexander Hvaal as his team-mate for the 2014 World Rallycross Championship.
Hvaal, 21, won the final two rounds of the 2013 European championship driving a Hansen Motorsport Citroen DS3.
He then tested for Solberg at Holjes in Sweden in October before teaming up with his fellow Norwegian.
"If you want to become the best driver, you have to aim high and learn from the best driver there is," said Hvaal.
"Now I'm getting my chance with Solberg. I feel very honoured and privileged to take on such an important role in the world's best and most professional rallycross team."
Hvaal will drive Solberg's 2013 Citroen DS3, while Solberg himself will pilot a new car.
The partnership allows entry into the teams' championship in 2014 and offers Solberg the opportunity to work with a young driver.
"There's undoubtedly a lot of talent in Alexander," said Solberg. "With enough time and opportunity to learn, I'm sure he's set for a very successful future in rallycross.
"We're going to use our time well before the season starts to develop the world's best rallycross team into something even bigger and better. With Alexander joining us, we took another big step forwards towards that goal."
