Dennis: Hakkinen's GP-winning move 'best ever'
Team boss Ron Dennis hailed Mika Hakkinen's race-winning move on Michael Schumacher's Ferrari in Spa as the best he had ever seen
The German had blocked the McLaren at 200mph on lap 40 as they duelled for victory in the 44-lap Belgian Grand Prix.
Hakkinen had to lift off, but a lap later charging into Les Coombes at 195mph, Schumacher dodged around the left of backmarker Ricardo Zonta's BAR.
Hakkinen was right behind him, dived down the inside of the BAR approaching the right hand bend and had just enough momentum to carry him through into the lead.
Dennis has had some of the best drivers in recent history in his cars, including champions Ayrton Senna Alain Prost and Niki Lauda.
"It was unbelievable," said Dennis. "I think I would put the move as the best ever seen in Formula 1.
"There have been some exciting moves in the past," he added, "but the difficulty was the conditions under which he did it, having been pushed almost off the circuit and onto the wet track on the previous lap."
