Verstappen wants to stay at Arrows

Jos Verstappen has rubbished reports he is preparing to quit Arrows for a more competitive drive with the help of close friend Michael Schumacher

The Dutchman said he would be happy to remain with the team into a second season and has already told them he wants to stay.

"I would love to stay but it is up to [team boss] Tom [Walkinshaw] now," said Verstappen at the Belgian Grand Prix on Thursday.

"With the AMT engine deal and the design team and its sponsorship, things are looking good for next year for Arrows. Pedro [de la Rosa] and I work well together and we are a good partnership."

Walkinshaw's option on the Dutchman is due to run out in the next few weeks.

"Of course we are talking to other teams - that's normal in Formula 1," added the Dutchman. "They have shown interest but that's not the issue. I would love to stay."

Verstappen has been angered by reports he is searching for a more competitive drive, helped by the double champion who is currently battling for the world title.

"We are friends, but the entire story is rubbish. It would be nice if it was true, but it is not," he said.
