Sebastien Bourdais moves to KV Racing for 2014 IndyCar season

Sebastien Bourdais has signed a two-year deal to move to KV Racing in 2014, where he will replace Ganassi-bound Tony Kanaan.

The Frenchman's IndyCar future had been uncertain due to question marks over the 2014 plans for his current team Dragon Racing, and he said that having a multi-year deal secured so early will give him the best possible chance to help KV to move forward.

"The fact that we have an agreement so early, and that I have a two-year contract, means we have the opportunity to develop as a team," Bourdais said.

"I am looking forward to meeting the crew and getting started with testing as soon as possible.

"I also want to thank Jay [Penske] and all the guys at Dragon Racing for their support over the last two seasons."

Bourdais had reportedly been in competition with James Hinchcliffe for the KV seat, and confirmation of his deal reinforces Hinchcliffe's central role in the drivers' market.

The Canadian's options are understood to include remaining where he is at Andretti Autosport.
