Brands Hatch BTCC: Andrew Jordan defiant as crash throws title open

Andrew Jordan BTCC 2013

Andrew Jordan is planning to attack in the British Touring Car Championship finale after a disastrous race two at Brands Hatch.

The Eurotech Honda driver went into the second contest with a chance of securing his first overall BTCC crown, but instead recorded his first non-finish in 29 starts in 2013.

After being cautious in a battle with Rob Collard, Jordan was forced to avoid a clash between the WSR BMW and Aron Smith's Motorbase Ford Focus at Surtees.

As he did so, he was clipped by the works Honda of Matt Neal, breaking his left-rear suspension. It means Jordan will have to start the finale from the back.

"That wasn't in the plan," said Jordan. "I'm bitterly disappointed, but it's happened and we have to regroup.

"I know the team will give me the best car possible and it's elbows out now. I've been tentative, but the car will be quick and it's not over."

Jordan is 15 points ahead of Jason Plato, who won races one and two, with 22 points still on offer.

Gordon Shedden is 20 points behind, but Neal - whose Honda Civic ended race two on fire - is now out of the running to take his fourth BTCC crown.
