Sebastien Loeb tipped to fight for 2015 WTCC title

Sebastien Loeb WTCC 2014

Former Citroen team principal Guy Frequelin believes Sebastien Loeb will be in contention for a maiden World Touring Car Championship crown by 2015.

While Frequelin retired from the Versailles-based team at the end of 2007, he has remained a close adviser to Loeb and was present in Strasbourg for the nine-time champion's World Rally Championship farewell on home soil last weekend.

Frequelin says that Loeb should be capable of winning races in his debut WTCC campaign next year, and will be ready to challenge for what would be his 10th world title in his second season.

"It is different to go from the stage to the circuit, but Sebastien has some testing and we see already what he is capable of in racing with his performance in the GT car," Frequelin said.

"In dry conditions he can be fast, but when it is raining, probably he will be very, very fast.

"It can take him one year to go up with [Citroen team-mate] Yvan Muller, but then after it is possible for him to win the world championship.

"Next year, I hope he wins minimum one race. For Sebastien now the concentration is on the WTCC. I know him; he has this focus."
