Rally Finland, final day: McRae on a charge
Colin McRae fulifilled his promise to attack on Sunday morning as he reeled in Harri Rovapera in second place. With the gap at 17 seconds at the start of the day, McRae won the first two stages to close to within three seconds.
Rovanpera also lost time with damaged suspension after hitting a rock, and then was given a 20 second road penalty for late arrival.
In front of this battling pair, Marcus Gronholm can almost cruise home to his third win of the season and his first visit to the head of the World Rally Championship points table.
With two stages to go the Peugeot ace has just over a minute in hand.
The rest of the placings are more or less settled although with 60kms still to go, Alister McRae may have to watch Juha Kankkunen's progress as the Finn attempts to steal the final Manufacturers' point.
