Mercedes to be represented in BTCC 2014 by Ciceley Racing

Mercedes will be represented in the British Touring Car Championship next year by Adam Morgan and Ciceley Racing.

Ciceley will switch from the Toyota Avensis that Morgan has raced this year to an all-new A-class, which is being built at the team's Lancashire base.

"It's great to finally announce our plans for 2014," said Ciceley team principal Russell Morgan.

"With Paul Ridgway at the helm of the project holding high aspirations and Adam continuing to mature as a driver, we think the A-class can be a competitive package in the series next year."

BTCC supremo Alan Gow said that Ciceley's ambitious project vindicated the championship's introduction of NGTC regulations in 2011.

"This project perfectly demonstrates the strength and adaptability of our NGTC technical regulations," Gow said.

"The team are able to change from racing a Toyota and onto developing and racing a Mercedes, while utilising the vast majority of the NGTC components they already possess."

Ciceley's Avensis, which Morgan has raced to seventh place in the championship this year, will be put up for sale at the end of the season.
