Nico Hulkenberg says he does not resent Ferrari for its decision to choose Kimi Raikkonen as Felipe Massa's replacement rather than him.
Current Sauber driver Hulkenberg was Raikkonen's main rival for the 2014 Ferrari deal.
Asked if he bore any ill feeling towards the Italian team after it rejected him, Hulkenberg replied: "Not at all. To be honest, the relationship is as good and positive as before."
He dismissed reports that Ferrari informing Hulkenberg's manager of its decision via text message had caused rancour.
"There has been some misunderstanding in the media," said Hulkenberg. "I don't feel that."
The German added that he saw no point in dwelling on the Ferrari talks.
"There was a chance there," he said. "There is no point in thinking about it too much. It is history now. I look forward and move on."
Hulkenberg denied that a deal with Lotus was already in place.
"The priority is to find a good deal and good car," he said.
"Nothing is finalised at this point, I'm still trying to look at options and come up with a good thing for the future."
