Martin Truex Jr will take part in this weekend's NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Atlanta despite being diagnosed with a fractured wrist.
Truex sustained the damage to his right scaphoid when his Michael Waltrip Toyota was involved in a multi-car pile-up in the closing stage of the Bristol night race last Saturday.
A team statement said that Truex had been fitted with a special cast on his wrist to ensure the injury did not jeopardise his participation in the rest of the season.
With two races to go before the Chase field is set, Truex is 14th in the championship but holds a wildcard spot thanks to his Sonoma victory.
