Kurt Busch set for 2014 Stewart-Haas NASCAR Sprint Cup seat
Kurt Busch is expected to be announced as a Stewart-Haas Racing driver for the 2014 NASCAR Sprint Cup on Tuesday
He will join team owner Tony Stewart as part of an expanded four-car line-up that will also include Danica Patrick and Kevin Harvick, who is moving over from Richard Childress Racing.
Busch's current team, Furniture Row Racing, announced on Monday that the 2004 champion has refused the offer of a new multi-year-deal, leaving him free to join SHR next season.
Furniture Row general manager Joe Garone said: "It was always our intention to extend Kurt's contract with Furniture Row Racing.
"We made him an offer last week to continue as the driver of the #78 Chevrolet in 2014 and beyond. Though he did not accept our offer, we respect his decision and wish him future success.
"His driving skill and being a dedicated team player will always be appreciated here."
Busch joined Furniture Row with six races of the 2012 season to go, having spent the earlier part of the year with fellow mid-grid operation Phoenix Racing.
Eleven top-10 finishes, including third-placed finishes at Charlotte, Michigan and Pocono, have left him 12th in the points and on the verge of a Chase position for the first time in the team's history.
Ryan Newman, who has raced for SHR since 2009, has not been retained by the team.
