Mexican Alfonso Celis will make his British Formula 3 International Series debut in the final round at the Nurburgring.
Celis, who turns 17 during the week before the German event, will race one of Fortec Motorsport's Dallara-Mercedes.
He has been racing with Fortec in this season's Formula Renault North European Cup, his first year in Europe after competing in Mexico.
Celis lies 12th in the NEC standings, with a best result of fifth at Silverstone.
After the Nurburgring BF3 races, he will contest the F3 European Championship rounds at Zandvoort and Hockenheim.
Fortec team manager Andi Scott said: "The idea is to get him some track knowledge. He hasn't done much single-seater racing and he feels he's missing out.
"It doesn't necessarily mean he'll do F3 next season; he could stay in Renault."
Celis will have his first outing in the F3 car soon, either in a private test at Anglesey or in the official European F3 session at Hockenheim.
Fortec is confident of completing its full four-car line-up for the Nurburgring British F3 round, with one other driver due to be announced alongside regulars Will Buller and Felipe Guimaraes.
