Michela Cerruti will make her Auto GP debut for the MLR71 squad at the forthcoming Nurburgring round in August.
The former Superstars race-winner tested for two days with Michele La Rosa's team at Vallelunga last month.
MLR71's second seat alongside team owner/driver La Rosa has been vacant since Hungarian Tamas Pal Kiss raced for the team in a one-off outing at the Hungaroring in May.
"I'm happy to have reached an agreement with Auto GP and MLR71 to enter the closing stint of the 2013 season," said Cerruti, who has contested European Formula 3 and GT3 events this year.
"I tested the car at Vallelunga and it was a great feeling for me to have 550 horsepower behind my back.
"It was exciting and impressive, as it's the most powerful open-wheel car I have driven.
"The jump from the old GP3 car and Formula 3 might be considerable for me, but I'm sure I will be able to adapt in time and compete at my full potential."
Cerruti will be third female competitor to race in Auto GP after Natacha Gachnang and Pippa Mann.
