Four-time Champ Car title winner Sebastien Bourdais will drive for the 8Star Motorsports squad in the remainder of this year's Grand-Am series.
Bourdais will dovetail his IndyCar campaign for Dragon Racing with an assault on the remaining five Grand-Am races aboard 8Star's second Coyote-Chevrolet, driving alongside Daytona Prototype newcomer Emilio DiGuida.
The deal, which kicks off at Indianapolis for the Brickyard Grand Prix on July 26, marks a return to the series for Bourdais, who has contested the Daytona 24 Hours and Watkins Glen 6 Hours with the Starworks Daytona team this season.
Bourdais, who finished second at the Glen with 8Star boss Enzo Potolicchio driving for Starworks last year and won the Indy race in the team's sister car, said: "There are a lot of very good and talented people at 8Star and I'm happy to be involved.
"The #3 car [driven by Potolicchio, Stephane Sarrazin and Michael Valiente] has been pretty racey the past couple of races and the #4 is pretty much the same car, so I'm pretty excited about the prospects to drive for a new team that's sorting itself out pretty quickly."
Potolicchio said: "Sebastien brings a lot of experience to 8Star Motorsports that will make the #4 team a race contender and hopefully a race winner."
Emilio DiGuida, like Potolicchio from Venezuela, made his DP debut sharing the second 8Star Corvette-bodied Coyote with Luis Diaz and Sarrazin at Watkins Glen in June.
The 49-year-old has graduated to the DP class from Grand-Am GT and the GTC class of the American Le Mans Series.
