Auto GP considering winter series after 2013 season

AutoGP startAuto GP is considering launching a winter series at the end of the current 2013 season.

The championship announced on Saturday that it was weighing up reuniting with the World Touring Car Championship in 2014, a move that would mean fewer European rounds.

Series boss Enzo Coloni has revealed a winter series is also under consideration in a bid to boost the championship's popularity.

This year's calendar concludes at Brno on 5-6 October.

"We spoke with the teams and presented a possible option for 2014," Coloni said.

"By staying in a purely European context, despite the budgets are considerably lower compared to the others, we're offering a long-time consolidated format.

"On the other hand, we would love to hit new roads and provide our customers with brand-new motivations.

"In addition to that, we're looking forward to stay on-track at Brno after the final round of the season for a test session and to launch a possible winter series to make our championship more appealing than ever."
