Alzen top in morning warm-up

Opel took the fastest three times in the morning warm-up for Sunday's Sachsenring DTM round, Uwe Alzen topping the time sheets ahead of Timo Scheider and Eric Helary

Continuing the trend of the weekend, 14 cars were covered by less than a second.

The weather for this afternoon's pair of races is forecast to hit 27 degrees celsius - the hottest conditions so far for the new-look DTM and tyre wear could be a key factor in the outcome of the two races.

"The tyres are past their best after two or three laps here," said Peter Dumbreck, who shares the front row with veteran Klaus Ludwig, "so I can see us losing a lot of cars by people just falling off."
