Pocono IndyCar: Marco Andretti still quickest in final practice

Marco Andretti topped the times in the final IndyCar practice session ahead of Sunday's race at Pocono

Andretti moved to the top of the screens around mid-way through the 30-minute session with a 219.120mph lap; a pace that remained unbeaten.

Takuma Sato came closest with a late 218.814mph effort, while a similar late push from James Hinchliffe was rewarded with the third-best time.

Scott Dixon, who had led the times early on, finished up fourth-fastest ahead of Ganassi team-mate Dario Franchitti.

The session passed without incident, leaving the teams an uninterrupted chance to fine-tune their cars' handling in traffic ahead of the race on Sunday afternoon.

Andretti Autosport ran its own mini-race simulation during the opening minutes, with Hinchcliffe and Andretti taking turns to draft each other around the 2.5 mile layout, but by the end of the session most cars were running in packs.

Neither EJ Viso nor Alex Tagliani were able to take part following their accidents during qualifying, with BHA working to repair Tagliani's car for the race, and Andretti preparing its back-up car for Viso.

Panther also sat the session out due to Ryan Briscoe's clashing commitments in the American Le Mans Series race at Lime Rock; the team feeling confident that it learned enough from its two test days at the track to stand it in good stead when the Australian arrives for the race.
