Pirelli's Paul Hembery pulls out of F1 press call on legal advice

Paul HemberyPirelli motorsport director Paul Hembery pulled out of an appearance at an official FIA press conference in Montreal on Friday on advice from his company's lawyers.

Ahead of an FIA International Tribunal hearing that will likely take place later this month to investigate whether Mercedes broke the rules in running a 2013 car at a recent Pirelli test, Hembery had been due to join other people involved in the case at the Friday media event.

However, with Pirelli's involvement in the testing controversy a key matter, a spokesperson for the Italian tyre company confirmed that lawyers had advised Hembery not to take part.

Mercedes team principal Ross Brawn, plus fellow team chiefs Christian Horner from Red Bull and Stefano Domenicali from Ferrari, who protested over the testing matter in Monaco, are still scheduled to appear at the press conference, which could shed more light on the situation.
