Montoya on top in morning practice
Juan Montoya was quickest in the final practice session before qualifying for the Target Grand Prix of Chicago
Last year's race winner, driving for circuit boss Chip Ganassi's team, was 0.1s quicker than Helio Castroneves, with Cristiano da Matta completing the top three.
Montoya's team-mate Jimmy Vasser was fourth quickest ahead of Friday pacesetters Team Rahal, Max Papis proving marginally quicker than Kenny Brack.
Qualifying is due to start at 7.30pm UK time.
