Bailey takes last-minute pole at Zolder FIA GTs
Julian Bailey has taken a last-gasp pole position for Lister in the sixth round of the FIA GT at Zolder
The Storm driver could not find a clear lap until the dying moments of the session, when he set a fastest time of 1m34.527s.
"That was leaving it too late," he said. "It was really frustrating - I had a terrible time. It shows how much luck is involved - I could easily have been fourth."
Bailey is joined on the front row of the grid by Mike Hezemans, who pedalled his Chrysler Viper to a best time of 1m34.921s after he swapped rear axles between Saturday's two qualifying sessions.
Marc Duez will start the race from third after he set a time of 1m35.028s in the Paul Belmondo Chrysler Viper. He is joined on the second row of the grid by Tiff Needell in the second Lister Storm.
Christophe Bouchut (Larbre Porsche) spend most of qualifying scrapping with Luca Riccitelli (RWS Porsche).
The fight was decided in the Italian's favour when he bashed out an impressive 1m37.736s lap, more than enough to secure class pole.
