Spectator killed on Scottish rally

A spectator was killed on the opening stage of the Snowman Rally in Scotland on Saturday morning.

The event, round one of the Scottish Rally Championship, was subsequently cancelled.

The accident happened on the first stage of the Inverness-based event, Glen Urquhart, when a competing car rolled into spectators at a junction close to the village of Balnain, just west of Loch Ness.

A 50-year-old woman was killed and an eight-year-old boy taken to hospital.
