Acropolis Rally undergoes changes for 2013

Acropolis RallyThis year's Acropolis Rally has undergone significant changes and will feature a night stage in its itinerary.

The Loutraki-based event begins with a qualifying stage close to the service park before a ceremonial start in Athens on Friday May 31.

The crews will then tackle a 30-mile stage on Friday evening and a 13-miler in the dark starting at 21:26 local time.

Saturday June 1, the first full day of Acropolis action, brings a further eight stages and 92 competitive miles in what will be a 14-hour leg.

Last year's New Pissia stage is run in the opposite direction on Sunday's final day.

That and a 19-mile Loutraki test are both contested twice, with the latter running as the event's powerstage.

The changes to the route mean the loss of the roads around Itea, including the classic Bauxites and Drossohori stages, which returned to the route last season.

The overall mileage for the event is 653km, 190 of which will be competitive.
