Risi Ferrari returns to American Le Mans Series

Risi Ferrari, Petit Le Mans 2011Multiple GT champion team Risi will return to the American Le Mans Series for 2013 after a one-year hiatus.

The team skipped last season having been unable to put a financial package together in time.

It will be back this year with a single Ferrari 458 and has committed to 2014's combined Grand-Am/ALMS championship too.

Team boss Giueseppe Risi said the impending merger was a key factor in the decision.

"We are embarking on a two-year programme as we return to racing," said Risi.

"This year, we will race in ALMS alone, where we have enjoyed great success. In 2014, we will race in the merged series under the new class structure.

"We are excited about the prospects and the programme and are actively ramping the team up for 2013."

Risi won the ALMS GT2 teams' title in 2006 and '07, and also boasts multiple class wins in the Sebring 12 Hours and Le Mans 24 Hours.
