Formula 4 single-seater unveiled at AUTOSPORT International

F4 car

These are the first pictures of the car that drivers will race in the new BRDC Formula 4 championship this season.

The MSV F4-013 has been built by Van Diemen founder Ralph Firman's RFR concern for the new MotorSport Vision-run series, which is designed to offer a new low-cost route into professional single-seater racing in the UK.

The car was unveiled by MSV chief executive Jonathan Palmer and BRDC president Derek Warwick at AUTOSPORT International in Birmingham's NEC on Thursday morning.

Palmer said: "In recent years racing drivers in the UK wishing to start a single-seater career have not had the car or series they really wanted, and we set out to address this with the BRDC F4 championship.

"We were determined to provide not just a low-cost single-seater, but a great car in its own right. Teams liked the original F4 concept and specification, and all 24 cars were sold within a month of its launch in September last year.

"Those teams, and indeed drivers, have waited patiently for our MSV F4-013 car to be revealed and I have no doubt they will be as thrilled as I am with the result.

"Ralph Firman Racing, working with our own MSV engineers, has produced a truly remarkable car that sets new standards.

"The stage is set for the BRDC F4 championship to be an outstanding success and one that will produce the Jenson Buttons and Lewis Hamiltons of the future."
