Andy Neate has established his own team for the 2013 British Touring Car Championship and will run an NGTC Chevrolet Cruze under the IP Tech Race Engineering banner.
Neate left MG works team Triple Eight at the end of last season.
The 38-year-old had previously driven for WSR BMW and Arena Ford in his first two full BTCC campaigns.
IP Tech's Cruze will be a saloon version, unlike the hatchback model that BTC Racing is preparing.
"I felt the timing was right to take advantage of the experience I've gained as a driver and the global recognition I've earned as a chief technical officer of engineering," said Neate.
"Coupling these attributes with the collective of the best people around me that I could hope for, suggests success cannot be far away."
IP Tech has created a base in Daventry and signed personnel including engineers Phil Overall and Jeff Kingston.
