Marc Marquez's confidence boost by dry test mileage

Marc Marquez, Honda, Sepang MotoGP testingMarc Marquez believes his confidence on the Honda MotoGP bike is growing after finally getting his first full day of dry testing at Sepang on Tuesday.

Having lost a lot of running to rain on Monday and in the previous test at Valencia, Marquez managed 60 laps on a dry track on day two of his test at the Malaysian Grand Prix venue.

The Moto2 champion lapped in 2m01.355s, beating Gresini Honda's Alvaro Bautista by 0.6 seconds. Honda test riders Kousuke Akiyoshi and Takumi Takahashi were also present.

Marquez's lap was one seconds off this year's Sepang pole pace, but just two tenths behind the event's best practice time.

"In the morning the track was a little wet still from yesterday but it dried up pretty quickly and we were able to go out on track at around 11.30am and make use of the entire day," said Marquez.

"In the first exit we improved our time from yesterday which is definitely a positive.

"Then we tried some new set-ups and I started to understand the bike better and my confidence began to grow."

Marquez also had his first run on the Honda 2013.

"I also tried the 2013 prototype today which felt good, but it's more important that I take my time to learn the MotoGP bike and adapt my riding style to suit these bigger machines," he said.

The test continues on Wednesday.
