Michael Schumacher's ex-engineer Chris Dyer joins BMW in DTM

Chris Dyer Ferrari 2010

Michael Schumacher's former Ferrari race engineer Chris Dyer has joined BMW's DTM programme.

Dyer worked with Schumacher from 2001-06 and later became the Italian squad's head of race track engineering before being replaced by Pat Fry last year.

BMW confirmed to AUTOSPORT that the 43-year-old Australian will take over as the project's chief engineer from Mike Krack, who is leaving his role at the end of the season.

Dyer will make his first race appearance for BMW at this weekend’s Hockenheim season finale.

He has a strong background in touring cars, having worked with the Holden Racing Team in Australia in the mid-nineties alongside Craig Lowndes and Peter Brock.
