Mercedes DTM crew member in hospital after Ralf Schumacher pit incident

Ralf Schumacher, Zandvoort pit incidentA member of the HWA Mercedes team remains in hospital following an accident with Ralf Schumacher's car during DTM practice at Zandvoort on Friday.

The rear wing of Schumacher's C-coupe caught an air line as it was being driven out of its pit stall, ripping the line away from its mounting and leading to body contact with a number of members of the pit crew.

Four were taken to hospital for treatment to their injuries, although three have since been released.

One member of the team was seen lying on the ground with a blood injury to the forehead. AUTOSPORT understands that this is who is still being treated.

A statement released by Mercedes read: "Four members of the team were taken to hospital following an initial checkover at the medical centre.

"Three have returned to the circuit, but one is still in hospital. The injuries are not major and not life-threatening, but they are still in hospital for further checks."
