Vitantonio Liuzzi 'cannot wait' to make international sportscar debut with Lotus at 6 Hours of Silverstone

Vitantonio Liuzzi Former Formula 1 driver Vitantonio Liuzzi says he cannot wait to make his international sportscar debut for Lotus at this weekend's 6 Hours of Silverstone.

The 32-year-old Italian, currently leading the International Superstars Series championship, will partner regulars Kevin Weeda and James Rossiter at the wheel of Lotus's #32 LMP2 car.

"I am very happy to get the chance to drive at the 6 Hours of Silverstone," Liuzzi said. "I know the track quite well from Formula 1 races in the past, but driving here in the Lotus LMP2 car will be different, for sure.

"I already got experienced with the car during some test days earlier this season and I can't wait for my first race in the FIA World Endurance Championship.

"I want to thank Lotus for this great opportunity and I hope to have a good result in Silverstone."

Having run just one car at Le Mans, Lotus will return to running two this weekend, with Thomas Holzer, Mirco Schultis and Luca Moro sharing the #31 Lola B12/80.

Silverstone marks the final European round of the inaugural season of the FIA World Endurance Championship, before it heads for rounds in Brazil, Bahrain, Japan and China.
