Ryan Hunter-Reay topped a wet and delayed final warm-up session ahead of this weekend's IndyCar race at Mid-Ohio.
Amid all the disruptions, Hunter-Reay made the best of the morning with a 1m32.8638s, which left him 1.7 seconds clear of Will Power. Tony Kanaan, Simona de Silvestro, Takuma Sato and Simon Pagenaud rounded out the top six, although the nature of the session rendered the times essentially meaningless.
Heavy morning downpours forced a delay of more than an hour, and the combination of the wet conditions and two red flags within the 20-minute session meant that there was little opportunity to do any meaningful running.
Ed Carpenter managed to go off twice; the owner-driver causing the first red flag with an early spin, and then firing into the gravel on his out-lap after the restart. James Hinchcliffe and Graham Rahal also had moments, but the only cars to sustain any damage were those of Dario Franchitti, who broke his front wing with a trip into the tyres at Turn 6, and Oriol Servia, whose Dreyer & Reinbold team reported minor damage after a spin.
